B.Com student’s body found after 3 days
A 20-year-old commerce student from the city died under mysterious circumstances after falling from Shivagange Hills under Dobbspet Rural police limits.
The deceased has been identified as Vinay, a resident of Dasarahalli. According to the police, the incident took place last Thursday, but the body was recovered only on Sunday.
It is believed that on November 22, Vinay informed his parents that he was visiting a temple at Shivagange.
He reached on Thursday and performed the puja in the temple. Vinay was a B.Com student at a city college.
On Friday late evening, a temple priest saw a mobile phone and phone book lying near a cliff. He picked up the phone book and called Vinay’s parents.
They informed the priest that their son had come to Shivagange for the puja. The police were informed and a search began for Vinay.
The location where Vinay’s phone and phonebook were found is known as Shantala Point, which is also called suicide point. It is named after Queen Shantala, wife of Hoysala king Vishnuvardhana, who committed suicide by jumping off the cliff.
The police now suspect that Vinay might have committed suicide. They are also trying to find out whether he had come alone or with some friends.
The Dobbspet police have filed a case of unnatural death and are investigating.
