BBMP raids Salarpuria property
The Salarpuria group has been rapped on the knuckles by the BBMP after it was discovered that a multi-storey residential complex being constructed in Yeshwantpur by the group has encroached upon a storm water drain.
Based on a tip-off, the BBMP standing committee on major works carried out a spot inspection of the under-construction complex on Friday. The chairman of the standing committee on major works, Mr N.R. Sridhar Reddy, said, “We got information that the builders have violated the norms and have encroached on the area that belongs to BBMP. A part of the premises is being constructed on the storm water drain. We have asked the builders to give us the plan and the necessary documents. Till then, I have asked the engineers to stop the construction.”
The residential apartment block of 197 units is being constructed on a four-acre plot of land. The building is on the main road at a very prominent location.Though the BBMP committee had earlier conducted an inspection of the building site and asked engineers to produce the necessary documents, they had failed to do so.
“When we inspected the place earlier, we had told the site engineer to produce the documents and the construction was to be stopped. However, they did not abide by the instructions. This time we have strictly told them and will check if all the documents are as per the norms. As of now, without the documents we cannot take any action,” said Mr Reddy. Senior sales manager of the Salarpuria group, Mr Suresh Goel, says he wants written instructions from the BBMP. “We were verbally told by the BBMP to submit the official documents. We cannot go by verbal statements. If the BBMP wants us to produce the documents before them, they should ask us in writing. We have no problem in producing the required documents,” he said.
