Bagair Hukum: Ashok’s turn to land in trouble
Days after BMTF chief RP Sharma issued a show-cause notice to Deputy Chief Minister R Ashoka on the allotment of 'bagair hukum' land to Mayor Venkatesh Murthy, the state Congress party has moved the Lokayukta institution alleging that the committee to regularize bagair hukum land, headed by Ashoka, allotted a scandalous 570 acres to the BJP men in one sitting.
The complaint stated that Mr Ashoka who was Uttarahalli constituency MLA during 1999, cleared 108 applications in one sitting of the committee for regularization of bagair hukum lands. The complaint stated that the committee headed by Ashoka, which also had 4 members and Bengaluru south tahashildar as secretary, cleared applications filed by the supporters of the MLA.
The committee has allotted 2 acres of land in the name of Hemalatha, wife of Chidanandamurthy, a city based RSS leader; 3 acres of land to Banashankari ward corporator Basavaraju's wife Manjula and 4 acres to mayor Venkateshmurthy.
“Uttarahalli was the largest constituency in the whole of Asia when Mr Ashoka was representing during 1999. The highest regularization of bagair hukum land was in survey number 46 (570 acres) and also by way of manipulating rules and pre-condition. Rajarajeshwarinagar constituency MLA M Srinivas's son S Venkatesh Babu was allotted 25 acres of land in Kaggalipura village”,' Congress leader Kagodu Thimmappa alleged.
