Ashok’s convoy has marathoners on run
Participants at the TCS World 10K Run on Sunday may have had their reasons to participate – from plain competitive spirit to charity. But home and transport minister R. Ashok and his convoy had a few enthusiasts running for their lives, literally.
Mr Ashok, who was enroute to Sree Kanteerava Stadium to give away prizes to the winners of the competition events, left many fuming. Around 9.30 am, when the Open 10K run was in progress, Mr Ashok’s convoy headed towards Kasturba Road from Cubbon Road and as it approached the turn, the traffic police halted the runners to make way for the vehicles.
But some of the participants, who were in no mood to break their momentum, nearly came under the wheels.
The incident occurred just after Reliance ADAG chairman Anil Ambani, who was also a participant in the event, had passed by.
“It was shocking to see the vehicles being let through and policemen pushing back the runners. We train hard through the year and every second matters. We could have surely done without such a distasteful incident”, said Amit, a techie and one of the participants.
