6 lakh to appear for II PU examinations
The II PUC examinations that begin on Thursday will see 5.96 lakh students appearing for all the three streams, science, arts and commerce, across the State. The exams will end on March 31 and results are expected to be announced in the first week of May. In Bengaluru city, the exams will be held in 135 exam centres for 97,218 students. Eighty of the centres are considered 'most sensitive' and 86 centres 'sensitive', according to an official press release.
The appointed invigilators will have 2,184 supporting staff and 64 flying squads to ensure there is no cheating. "We have directed the district administrations to close all Xerox shops in the vicinity of the exam centres. Police protection will be given to those centres that are considered sensitive and most sensitive. District collectors have deputed officials from other departments to help the board to provide total security to all exam centres," said an officer of the PU board.
