3 killed, 7 injured in highway accident
Three people were killed and seven others injured after the driver of an SUV in which they were traveling, tried to overtake a private bus and, in the process, hit a car going in front of the bus on NH 4 in Nelamangala Town police limits on Sunday.
The deceased are Huchahanumaiah (55), a resident of Moodalapalya, his wife Gayathri and Rajappa, a cook. Ramanna, Raghu, Muddappa, Sugandaraju who were traveling in the car have been critically injured and are undergoing treatment at various hospitals in Nelamangala and Bengaluru.
Three other people who were traveling in the SUV and the car have also sustained minor injuries and are said to be out of danger, said the police.
According to the police, Huchahanumaiah and his family had gone to Bylanjaneya temple near Shivagange Hills and had arranged for food for the devotees in view of the Sri Rama Navami festival.
The accident occurred near Dodderi at T Begur on NH 4 when they returning to the city. Nelamangala Town police have registered a case.
